Remember, every lesson in the Beginning Guitar Complete course offers a Layered Learning section with a more challenging version of the standard skill that’s being taught in the lesson.
Combined, you have access to over two years of lessons with a course of study that will give you the foundation to pursue whatever styles of music that you’d like to play.
The Consonus Difference
Most online beginning guitar instruction focuses on teaching a few quick licks or riffs, and how to play a few chords. This type of instruction is a road to nowhere. With Consonus courses we’ll set you on a path to guitar learning with a sequential course of study that covers the playing skills that are essential for any style of music that you want to play.
Guitar Fundamentals focuses on developing both solo and group playing skills. Most lessons include solo pieces and ensemble arrangements with multiple parts that you can play with included practice tracks. It’s fun and gives students the experience of performing in a group.
We also help you develop your musical creativity with modules that will teach you how to improvise a lead solo by understanding the right notes to play, or how to create your own chord progressions for writing your own songs.
How Consonus Self-Study Lessons Work
The Consonus lesson site organizes the lesson of each course in an index. The lesson titles expands to show the topics covered in that lesson. Every lesson is presented with the Consonus 3 step learning process:
Present the Skill.
Each new skill is demonstrated in a video that explains and shows you how to execute that skill.

Practice the Skill.
A number of drills and exercises are presented that allow you to practice your new skill along with a practice audio track for you to play along with.
Apply the Skill.
You haven’t really learned the skill until you can apply it in a musical situation. Each lesson includes an opportunity to use the new skill in a solo or ensemble piece that includes an audio accompaniment track.

Layered Learning
For students who are already familiar with the basic skill or want more of a challenge, every lesson contains a Layered Learning tm tab. This provides a more advanced version of the skill that’s being taught in the lesson
